🤔 Why did I buy that particular startup?
In the previous episode, I told you a story about how I acquired my first small app. If you didn't see it, I advise you to look; the link is here.
One of my readers asked me a good question. Why did I buy that particular startup? What were my reasons?
I will be honest with you, as always I do, and tell you my reasons.
It all started with my agency. I thought about scaling it. But, unfortunately, to scale outsource business isn't a simple task.
To make more money, you need to hire more people and take more projects.
This, in turn, increases complexity and risks.
But, I didn't want this. I wanted to keep my team small and make more money.
Then after reading a bunch of articles and the indie maker handbook by Pieter Levels, I came up with the idea to build SaaS or some sort of revenue profitable app.
The main issue here is to find a product-market fit. And I personally think it's the major reason why a lot of startups fail.
So, I thought about buying an already working small app with a few customers that I can afford and experiment with.
This way, I found this addon, analyzed competitors, demand, and concluded that it's worth it.
Now, I totally rebuilt the design not only for the addon but for the landing page. Previously, it looked basic and a little bit ugly. Functionality stayed the same.
My main takeaway. Buy projects with demand, don't forget to analyze the market and competitors, start small, and don't be scared of design. You can always rebuild it later.
💯 Things to make your app more valuable
What can I do to make my app costs more before the sale? I heard this a lot.
For this reason, I have a few simple but beneficial things to tell you.
The first one is to create a demo for your app.
It must be in video format. No longer than 2 minutes. Focused on the main feature which solves the main problem for your customers.
Here is a good example.
Cool, cool. I know.
You ask me, and what is the second thing?
The second will be to create a detailed FAQ document for your buyers.
I have prepared one for you. You can copy it here.
Personally, I like the structure and how it is detailed 😍
Let me know what you think. I reply to every email.
🚀 Our website is live
Only three weeks went from idea to launch. And microns.io is live!
Feel free to visit and check available startups for sale.
Maybe it will be your first acquisition which went to the next big product. Who knows?
Anyway, I am always here and happy to help everyone who wants to buy or list startups on the website.
Don't hesitate to reach me through email or Twitter.
I've learned a lot in this journey — design, copy, no-code development.
My advice for you: take a look at Webflow. It is a no-code tool that I actually used to develop microns.io or hire a no-code agency like flowGenius.
It will help you build MVP in three weeks or less. Depending on how much time you allocate.
For example, I worked part-time, and it took from the idea to launch just three weeks.
