🎉 Recently sold startup
This week we helped to find a new owner for ChatGPT's powered customer support tool. It had 2,500 monthly users, one customer, and $120 in ARR. The startup was built via Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. The acquisition included a website, domain, and social media profiles.
Every acquisition is a story. And as with every story, it has its unique sides. I love how Shri wrote the tale of SupportGuy by building it in public. He shared every success and every failure by motivating others to move on.
The founder took a validated idea that worked in the market with well-established players (Intercom and Crisp) and added spice. Technology that made the product unique and attractive.
You may ask: wait....did you say 70x ARR?! Yes, exactly. And it's reasonable considering the crazy demand for this project (10+ requests from serious investors). Startups in 4-5 figure acquisitions are also priced based on market interest. If many people see value in the product, the price goes up. It's a well-known law of supply and demand.
The great thing is that it is the second startup sold by this founder through Microns. And I hope more to come. I like and appreciate loyal members. You can support Shri and SupportGuy by following them on Twitter 🚀
☘️ New stage for Microns
Recently I watched American Horror Story, the season about the freak show. And it was impressive to see how the plot evolves with its ups and downs. Recommend watching it if you haven't.
As with every great series, new seasons mean something cool will continue. Going further, I want to share my vision about a trailer for a new "season" for the Microns marketplace.
From this day, I decided to focus Microns on revenue-generating startups only. Of course, many other marketplaces try to find a compromise between pre-revenue and profitable projects, but I chose another way.
I didn't want to upset those who had projects without revenue, so I built a project within a week called PreRevMarket. It will serve the market for startups without income.
This way, I solved two problems: positioning and market share. Every place has its narrow focus, and together, they serve a significant part of the bootstrapped startup market. I want to make every marketplace easily recognizable by serving specific audiences. The same as Toyota and Lexus did with their brands.
Yesterday, I fixed all bugs that my dear followers pointed me. And here you go: prerevmarket.com and twitter.com/PreRevMarket 🥳 Feel free to roast the site, signup for the newsletter, and submit your pre-revenue project.
